Introducing the Institute for Future Conflict
The mission of the Institute for Future Conflict is "to create and cultivate flexible warfighters who are prepared to prevail in conflict regardless of the form it may take in the future." We invite you to be a part of that mission through your support.
Support the IFCThe Air Force Academy is focused on developing officers who are prepared for a multitude of challenges. The Institute for Future Conflict focuses on research and education that examines the changing character and technologies of armed conflict while providing future officers with the skills to be agile and adaptive throughout their careers. Researchers and faculty emphasize deterrence and competitive advantage when conflict becomes necessary.
The IFC must be staffed with personnel who have specialized expertise. The Institute is building a foundation of excellence in thinking about how the U.S. can plan for and approach future conflicts. Visiting professors help cadet scholars research topics and themes from the National Defense Strategy. Endowed chairs help lead curriculum and research on the future aerospace domain, the future cyber domain and the study of information dominance.

Learn more about why the Institute for Future Conflict is a priority at the Air Force Academy.

The IFC provides resources for cadets, faculty and senior leaders to pursue high-impact learning opportunities to build deeper roots in the technological and socio-cultural demands of modern conflict. The Institute accomplishes these goals by strengthening faculty and cadet research, faculty development, cultural immersion travel and graduate school scholarships. A lecture series focused on themes from the current National Defense Strategy also could help disseminate knowledge.
